Project Description

‘At Risk Register’…

The Church of St Edmund, King & Martyr in Dudley, West Midlands, underwent much needed repairs in 2018 to the tower. The building had been on Heritage England’s ‘At Risk Register’ for some time due to the poor state of the tower roof, damaged stone work, brickwork, failed pointing and broken rainwater goods. Castle was appointed as the specialist heritage roofing sub-contractor, carrying out Welsh slate repairs to the South Aisle. On the tower, a new Code 7 sand-cast lead roof was constructed, with wood roll joints to the tower and new lead to all cornices.
